Mary Lou believes the creative act is a communal process. Artmaking is story, rooted in generational activity and relationship.

After eighteen years of teaching high school art at Lancaster Mennonite High School, she finds the interplay of the artistic process and spirituality vital to her present work with individuals and groups.

Her artwork, inspired by themes, began during a studio-leave from teaching in 1989-90.
